Join us in welcoming Rebecca Berry to our team as a communities manager!

In this role, Rebecca will support strategies in Poinsett County that advance our mission to improve health and education outcomes for Arkansas children from before birth through age 8. We partner with communities to expand access to the resources families need so their children can thrive, building “local models for change” that can be adapted across the state.

“Rebecca leads by listening and building strong relationships, which makes her a natural fit for this role,” said Jessi Rice Woods, communities director at Excel by Eight. “We’re excited to welcome her back to Arkansas, where her thoughtful approach will strengthen our efforts to help families and local partners ensure that children in their communities have every opportunity to excel.”

Rebecca has a background in community organizing and earned her master’s degree in social work from the University of Denver. Most recently, she worked on a participatory action research team, centering the lived expertise of young people facing housing insecurity in Colorado. Before graduate school, she led a statewide grassroots effort in Wyoming to increase access to health care for working families. She also organized alongside people who were formerly incarcerated to remove barriers to employment and decrease the number of people in prison in Louisiana.
